Yamaha XSR 125 Gets a Fresh Update for 2025

Yamaha has just pulled the covers off the updated XSR 125, and fans of retro-styled bikes have something to be excited about. For 2025, the little XSR gets a few key upgrades that make it even more appealing.

The biggest change is under the skin. The 125cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine is now Euro5+ compliant, meaning it meets the latest emission norms without losing any of its charm. Power output stays the same at 14.8hp, and yes—it still comes with Yamaha’s Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) system that helps squeeze out better performance at higher revs.

But that’s not all. Yamaha has also introduced a new Legacy Edition alongside the standard model. This version comes with a throwback paint scheme that feels like a nod to the ’70s, and it even gets a more premium-looking tank logo that sets it apart from the base variant.

Both versions will hit UK showrooms soon, and as expected, there’s been a slight bump in price due to the engine update.

Now, for Indian enthusiasts—here’s the bummer. The XSR 125, just like the XSR 155, still isn’t available in India. There’s been a lot of interest, especially for the 155, but Yamaha felt it was too expensive for the Indian market. That’s why we got the FZ-X instead, which shares its base with the FZ series. While the FZ-X had a decent start, it never quite matched the XSR’s charisma.

That said, there are whispers going around that the XSR 155 could finally come to India in the next year or two. Fingers crossed, because that’s one launch a lot of riders have been

waiting for.
